The Philippine Network Operators Group held the Manila leg of PhNOG 2019 on July 17-19, 2019 at I’M Hotel, Makati City. The 3-day event included a forum on IP Peering and workshops on Advance BGP concepts and RPKI deployment.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) took part in the event as Engr. Benjz Gerard Sevilla, from the Office of Assistant Secretary for Resilient Government Emergency Communications, provided updates on the endeavors of the Department. Among the highlights of the presentation was the National ICT Ecosystem Framework (NICTEF) as the complementary planning tool, seen to consolidate, integrate, and update the ICT ecosystem diaspora nationwide.
Engr. Sevilla emphasized cooperation between DICT and Internet Society (ISOC) on multi-stakeholder governance and co-development of NICTEF as they inked a Memorandum of Understanding last July 05, 2018.
The commemoration of the 25th year of Internet was also discussed in his presentation focusing on the commitment between DICT and the various stakeholders to further improve Internet for the next 25 years.
Other presentations were on the history of Philippine Internet, Philippine policies and the future of Internet, and updates on the Philippine Internet landscape.
