In commemoration of the silver anniversary of Internet in the Philippines, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) together with its stakeholders have expressed commitment to further enhance Internet for the next 25 years on 29 Mach 2019 at Eastwood Richmonde Hotel.
With the theme “Unlock the Paths of the Future: 25 Years of Internet in the Philippines,” discussions during the event mainly revolved on the various initiatives that shall support the goal of improving Internet connectivity such as the National ICT Ecosystem Framework (NICTEF).
Engr. Dominador C. Garabiles, OIC of the Plans and Policy Development Division of the DICT, shared the vision of NICTEF of creating better ICT ecosystem to level up people, technology, and services. “One of NICTEF’s strategic thrusts is on Improved Public Links and Connectivity which focuses on leveraging connectivity to streamline business processes, reduce costs and improve operational efficiencies,” said Engr. Garabiles.
Other initiatives presented include the National Broadband Plan and the Entry of the New Major Telecom Player.
